When Service Is Bad

Service how we know it usually implies an underlying expectation – a type of reward we expect in return from the person we serve directly or from life, whether it‘s love, appreciation, money or good karma. You might also help someone in order to have or stop a certain feeling; to feel relief, accomplishment or contentment, or to stop feeling guilt or discomfort.

Step one: If you serve, serve without wanting anything in return.

Step two: Serve without labeling your behavior as serving. See it as a neutral act, like brushing your teeth.
